Cheap light for Sump

_Mackus_2012-02-23 12:34:54 +0000 #1
I'm looking for a small light, maybe even a clip on, to put over the fuge portion of my sump (located inside my stand, so gets no light). It's probably only a 12x12 or so section, I would just like to get a bit of algae growing down there to hopefully get my copepod population up. My plan would be to run it during the night, opposite the schedule of my display lights.

Can I just get something as simple and easy as a clip on desk-lamp or would that type of lighting be bad for the rest of my tank?

I'm hoping to solve this problem for $20 or less, so I'm not looking for a small LED system or anything like that.

Thanks

Get a small drop light with the aluminum reflector and use a spiral 26w PC lamp. The warm white works well for algae growth. I use one over my fuge with mangroves. Works great.
